Stanislav Beran was born in 1977 in Jindřichův Hradec. He studied at the local grammar school, then graduated in Czech language and history from the Faculty of Education at J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. He lives in Jindřichův Hradec and works for a pharmaceutical company.
He made his debut with the poetry collection Zlodům (Centrum křesťanské kultury svatého Vojtěcha, Ústí nad Labem, 2002) and went on to publish the book of short stories Až umřeš, nikdo už ti nebude chtít sahat na prsa (Host, Brno 2007) and the novel Hliněné dny (Host, Brno 2009), which describes the fate of a doctor who ends his days in a hovel by a dump, against the background of the second half of the turbulent 20th century.
