Songwriter, author, lyricist, scriptwriter, translator Jiří Dědeček was born on 13 February 1953 in Karlovy Vary. He is a graduate of Librarianship and Information Science from the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, Prague and, later, Scriptwriting and Dramatic Art from FAMU [the Film and Television Faculty of the Academy of the Musical Arts, Prague]. Having worked as an interpreter for the Prague Information Service, since 1976 he has been freelance. In the late 1970s and early 1980s he formed a double act with Jan Burian. He lives in Prague.
