She was born on January 9th 1966 in Brno. After passing her exams at a local grammar school, she continued her studies at Prague’s FAMU, where she graduated in dramaturgy and scriptwriting. Before completing her studies she left for the United States, where she still lives today.

She has had many different jobs and also worked as an assistant to her husband, Miloš Forman, during the making of his film The People versus Larry Flynt. She launched her career as a writer with her autobiographical debut Skladatelka voňavého prádla, which was popular with readers. In the years that followed she brought out two more books of prose, Trojdílné plavky and Ten sen.
