Jiří Kamen (born on March 28, 1951 in Kolín) is a cultural affairs commentator at the Czech Radio 3 − Vltava station, author of radio plays and documentaries, writer. Jiří Kamen studied at the Faculty of Arts at Palacký University in Olomouc, earning an M.A. in Fine Arts and joined Czechoslovak Radio in 1975. In 1989, J. Kamen became the programme director of literature and drama broadcasting of Czechoslovak Radio and from 1991 to 1993 he was director-general of Czech Radio 3 − Vltava. Member of the Association of Writers. Lives in Prague.

He is the creator of German Culture Month (1991) and, along with Blanka Stárková, he prepared many special all-day broadcasts, such as A Day in Parisian Culture (1995), A Day in Viennese Culture (1996), Portugal − Land of Discoveries (1998), Switzerland − A Small Country of Many Countries (1998). Along with Blanka Stárková he also founded and created the Saturday cultural affairs programme Vltava Weekend Supplement , which won the Quails Prize for journalism and which he directs and hosts to this day. Jiří is also the author of several books: A Less than Full Measure of Happiness (Štestí pod míru, 1986; poetry), Wandering Horse (Toulavý kůň, 1982; biographical novel), The Other One is Me (Ten druhý jsem já, 1995; a novella in the form of a novel), It´s All the Cat´s Fault (Za všechno může kocour, 1996; a humorous novel on "pre-revolutionary" radio that also touches on the present day), etc.
