The Žítková Goddesses

 - obal knihy

In the heights of the White Carpathians, dotted sparsely across the hills, there are a number of crouched buildings. Michael Konupek, born in Prague, is a Czech-Norwegian writer and novelist.

He was trained in philosophy (Ph.D.) at Charles University in Prague. As a student, he developed sympathies for the reform movement of 1968. Having become member of the dissident organization Charter 77, he left Czechoslovakia in 1977 for Norway where he established himself first as an academic, then as a writer. He made his Norwegian debut in 1987. Among his novels is “I sin tid” (In its own time), an ironic story about a young Czech and his new life as an exile in Norway.
