The critic, journalist and newspaper and publishing editor Radim Kopáč was born in Prague on February 17th 1976. He graduated in journalism from Charles University’s Faculty of Social Sciences (1997-2000) and completed his doctorate in media theory there (2000-2004). He lives in Prague.

In 1999 he helped to set up the social-cultural internet monthly Dobrá adresa, of which he was the editor-in-chief in 2000. From 2001-2008 he was an editor at Psí víno, a magazine for modern Czech poetry; in 2002 he was an editor at the cultural magazine Uni; from 2002–2005 he was literary editor on the cultural editorial board of Czech Radio 3–Vltava; from 2002–2005 he was editor-in-chief of the literary quarterly Intelektuál; from 2005–2009 he was editor-in-chief of the internet-based Portál české literatury; since 2007 he has been a member of the editorial board of the literary review Weles. Since 2010 he has been an editor of the magazine Živel and an employee of the Department of Art and Literature at the Czech Republic Ministry of Culture.

His literary and artistic critiques, discussions and other texts have been published since 1998 in various magazines, newspapers and radio stations. He has helped in the publishing of around 50 books by mainly contemporary Czech authors. His texts have been translated into English, French, German, Polish and Spanish.

He has worked for several Czech publishers and has edited a series of books.

In 2008 (along with J. Schwarz) he organised the Love and Passion in Literature event for the 14th International Book Fair and Literary Festival for the Prague World of Books.

He has translated from English the books Em & Lo: Sex. Love. And Everything in Between (Slovart, 2009) and Steven J. Schneider’s 101 Horrors You Must See Before You Die (Slovart, 2010, with J. Balvín).

He has curated several exhibitions.
