Milena Oda was born 1975 in the Czech Republic, in Stara Paka. She is a german writer for prose, novel, theatre play, lyrics and essay. She studied German and history at the Philosophical Faculty of Palacky University in Olomouc (CZ). She also studied in Germany and Austria, and in England (Cambridge).

In Salzburg (Austria) she visited a study of drama at the Mozarteum. The dissertation she completed in 2001, in Klagenfurt and Olomouc. In Klagenfurt she also worked as a theatre practise in municipal theatre (Stadttheater). After she moved to Dusseldorf (Germany), she continued there on working in the theatre as a dramaturgy practise (Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf) and participated on some productions.

2002 was Milena Oda nominated for the “Open Mike” in Berlin, the literary anonymous competition for young german – writing – authors in the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin.

2007 was Milena Oda nominated for the Ingeborg-Bachmann-Preis. The most important literary competition for the german-writing-authors. (www.bachmannpreis.eu).

Her first special book is bibliophile edition “Piquadrat” (English: ”Pi-square”.) It was produced by Andreas Hegewald. Buchenpresse. Dresden. 2007.

Her play “Mehr als Meer” was 2009 selected for the "Forum for the Independent Theatre Groups" in Egypt – Alexandria and translated and published in Arabic language. (www.iact-eg.org).

Her Novel “Nennen Sie mich Diener”  came out in Germany 2011 by Schumachergebler, Dresden. www.verlag.schumachergebler.de

Her bilingual prose in Czech and German: "Ferenc. Die Liebeserklärung an die Schuhe" / "Ferenc. Vyznání lásky k botám" was published 2011 by Verzone, Prague. www.verzone.cz

Milena Oda writes prose, poetry, essays and for the radio and theatre; she writes exclusively in German.

She works as a translator and a journalist (WDR, Freitag, Prager Zeitung, Literární noviny etc.)

Milena Oda lives and works in Berlin.
