The poet, Milan Šedivý, was born in 1977 and graduated in Western University in Pilsen where he obtained a degree in pedagogy (specialisation in czech language and musical arts). Milan Šedivý debuted in university student‘s magazine.
He has published in important national literary journals across the Czech Republic as well as main national newspapers. His poems are embedded in many significant anthologies, such as Od břehů k horám (From Banks to Mountains), Nová česká literatura (The New Czech Literature) or Údolí neklidu (Restless Valley). His first collection Po zarostlém chodníčku (On Overgrown Path) was published in 2002, inspired by famous Janacek’s pieces dedicated to solo piano. In 2005 he released Sonáta pro vnitřní hlas (Sonata for Inner Voice) where the author‘s musical inspirations culminated. The third title Výběh slov (The Words Run Out, 2008), comprises of poems taken from previous collections. His poems have been translated into Italian (Rapporti di errore, 2010). His literature activities include writing regular critical books reviews for regional journals.
After completing university Milan Šedivý worked as a librarian and a teacher in northern Bohemia. Later he was employed by a consulting company in Prague. Presently he is working as a consultant in a recruitment company. He lives in Prague.
