Jakub Šofar (real name Vladimír Trojánek, *1958) was born in Nové Město na Moravě and has lived for a long time in Žďár nad Sázavou, travelling on occasion to Prague. He is a book and magazine editor and writer.
He is a non-combattant and a non-driver. After four semesters at the University of Economics in Prague (1977-1979) he graduated from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University (1979-1984). Afterwards he was a hotel receptionist and then a driver for Czechoslovak Buses. From 1985-1998 he worked for Horizont publishers and from 1999 in the editorial section of the public research institute. From 1993-2005 he was an editor for the fortnightly Tvar, and from 1999 editor of the online socio-cultural monthly Dobrá adresa, and from 2000 a contributor to the literary supplement Právo Salon. He has worked with New Books (until 2001), Czech Radio 3-Vltava (until 2005) and with the internet Portal of Czech Literature (until 2006). He has published under dozens of pseudonyms.
