The poet and prose writer Olga Walló (born 10. 9. 1948 in Prague) is known primarily as a noted director of Czech film and television dubbing, and she has only been systematically writing prose since the ’90s. After completing grammar school, she graduated in philosophy and psychology from the Arts Faculty of Charles University in Prague.
She has devoted her working life to what is called authorial dubbing: from 1969 she translated and adapted dialogue for what was then State Film and for Czechoslovak Television; between 1970 and 1991 she worked at Czechoslovak, later Czech Television, firstly as a script editor and later as a director. From 1982–1988 she taught dubbing at DAMU and FAMU. Since 1991 she has worked on a freelance basis.
