David Jan ŽÁK
David Jan Žák (born 1971 in Prachatice), originally working as a journalist. He is currently teaching art and creative writing at the Czech-English Grammar School in České Budějovice.
He has two short feature films under his belt - Mrtvé město (Dead City, 1993) and Zvířepes 1994. Together with the writer Jiří Hájíček, he established the České Budějovice Literary Cell that brings together poets and prosaists from the whole of South Bohemia. So far, he has published seven poetry collections. In 2006, his debut prosaic novel AXE Africa (Labyrint) appeared. Źák’s poems were translated into French, German, Russian and Polish.
