Poet Šiktanc awarded by the Czech Literary Fund

The annual award bestowed by Nadace Český literární fond (NČLF) (The Foundation Czech Literary Fund) went to writer Karel Šiktanc for his book Nesmír.

The prize is given each June in five literary categories: original Czech works, scientific and specialist literature, promotion of book culture, theatre, radio, film and TV works. A collective of authors who collaborated on the publication Květena České republiky 8 won the specialist literature category, while the annual award for promoting book culture went to Robert Krumphanzl for his extraordinary concern for publishing, dissemination and promotion of challenging books at the publishing house Triáda. In the theatre and radio category, jurors awarded Jan Mikulášek, the director of Korespondence V + W (Voskovec a Werich, Correspondence V+W), which is hosted by Reduta Theatre in Brno.

The Foundation also awards the annual Karel Havlíček Borovský Prize for journalism as well as the Journalist Quail prize bestowed to young journalists under 33 years of age. The 2010 journalist award went to Miroslav Mareš from the Jihlava regional newsdesk of the broadsheet Mladá Fronta Dnes. This year’s laureates of the Journalist Quail were the investigative journalist Ondřej Kundra from the weekly Respekt and the reporter and TV host Nora Fridrichová from Czech Television.
