Promotion of Czech literature abroad

Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic

The responsibility for the promotion of Czech literature abroad lies in the Department of Arts and Libraries. The need for the promotion comes out from the publishers, nevertheless the main goal is the presentation of Czech authors (mainly through readings and other public events).

Every year the Ministry publishes a call for proposals for the realisation of the national presentation at various international book fairs (eg. Leipzig, Frankfurt, London). The deadline is usually in October.

Czech Centres

The mission of the Czech Centres (Česká centra), organization funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, is to promote the good name of the country abroad. The organization comprises of more than twenty offices in more than twenty countries worldwide. The individual centres organize exhibitions, readings, concerts, discussions, courses of the Czech language, etc.
