Poetry

The sea as a bottomless and endless space, ideal for reflection. If a poet arrives at this important, rather rare point in the creative process, his work normally becomes so holistic, refined and ready that we do not have to carry out a quality check or explore why and how. The poetry collection Mare is essentially the twin sister of the previous text by the author which is difficult to classify in terms of genre, called Evropa je jako židle Thonet, Amerika je pravý úhel (2012). “Love and Poison” in an intimate, romantic plane in the first set and “warts as billboards”, or contrasts of modernity in the second set make a distinct existential statement about our world. Born in 1963, Sylva Fischerová studied classical philology at Charles University in Prague, where she now works as a lecturer at the Institute for Greek and Latin Studies. In addition to poetry, she writes prose and books for children.
