In this book for junior-school children the experienced author approaches the long-term taboo subject of death employing a well-tried method: fear can be overcome by unmasking what scares us. She uses the story of a little mouse by the name of Quickfeet, who on the first pages of the novel falls victim to her ancient enemy and goes to heaven inhabited by many other animals. This is yet another book in which Procházková defends all weak beings, who discover within themselves the power to rise like Phoenix from the ashes, and although the story dwells in the afterlife “only for a twinkle”, it does so without romantic kitsch and religious clichés. Even in the most difficult moments we can always seek support in what immortality has to offer, despite our physical limitations.
