The Žítková Goddesses

 - obal knihy

A group of mysterious woman have lived high up in the White Carpathian Mountains. They are far away from everything, which is why it is said that certain women among them have succeeded in preserving knowledge and intuition the rest of us have lost.

Komiksfest draws to a close, Lucie Lomová's Divoši becomes the comics of the year

The closing night gala, connected with the Muriel award, took place on  November 5th at Prague's Bio OKO cinema.

The prize for the best Czech comics and script went to Lucie Lomová's Divoši (Savages, Labyrint 2011).

Even after all the guest had left, there have been further lectures, screenings and exhibitions with an increasing number of visitors. Throughout November and December, comics fiends can visit 14 exhibitions displaying the works of Czech and foreign authors. “Možnosti jsou nekonečné” (“The Possibilities Are Endless”) at the Chemistry Gallery, presenting the works of Dave McKean, and Pascal Rabaté's “Ibikus” at the French Institute are among the most interesting solo exhibitions.

This year, the exhibitions present similar and disparate conceptions of graphic novels by two authors who deal with the same topic. Tygři z Východu“ (“Eastern Tigers”), for instance, demonstrates how to astutely recast the American mainstream style into a Slavonic one courtesy of Konstantin Komardin and Jozef “Danglár” Gertli. “Exprese a erotika” (“Expression and Eroticism”) dissects the works of Anke Feuchtenberger and Václav Šlajch while the contend – funny Spanish comics vs graphic novel can be viewed at the exhibition of Paco Roca and Darío Adanti.
