The Month of Authors’ Reading commences (in Slovakia and Poland too)
The Month of Authors’ Reading encompasses two directions – one representing domestic literature and the other championing literary endeavours of other countries (in the past these were, for instance, Canada, France, Belarus and Austria). According to the main schedule, two writers a day are introduced - a honorary guest from the particular country (this year it is Poland) and a local author. The “local” section of the festival has been transformed into a Czech and Slovak one this year. All the authors read in their own mother tongues, with translations of their writing into the language of the host country projected behind them. Among the Czech authors participating at the events in Brno and elsewhere are: Jiří Gruša, Petr Král, Arnošt Goldflam, Ivan Matoušek, Jaroslav Rudiš & U-Bahn, Ivan Martin Jirous together with Dáša Vokatá, J. H. Krchovský, Pavel Kohout; Slovak literature is represented by Peter Repka, Ivan Štrpka, Jana Bodnárová, Mária Ferenčuhová, Michal Hvorecký or Pavol Rankov; Polish authors participating at the events are Henryk Grynberg, Ryszard Krynicki, Stefan Chwin, Bohdan Zadura, Piotr Sommer, Adam Wiedemann, Krysztof Varga, Jacek Dehnel, Sylwia Chutnik, Juila Fiedorczuk and Adam Zagajewski. The entrance fee to all the readings and events is voluntary. For more information, go to www.autorskecteni.cz
