Prvních dvacet let
Autor
Michal Pribáň
The title examines literary life during the first two decades of the Czech anti-communist exile – the period spanning from February 1948 until August 1968. The author of the book doesn’t dissect the works of the exiled writers per se, rather he analyzes how their ouvre penetrated the communication with exiled readers. The greatest attention is given to the founders of the Czech Cultural Council Abroad, the little-known publisher Antonín Vlach (1905–1995) and his namesake – the poet, novelist and editor Robert Vlach (1917–1966). The history of the Czech Cultural Council is presented in a relatively broad context. The book, based on a thorough research, is the first attempt at a comprehensive understanding of the issue of literary life in exile.
