The voluminous title gathers almost all of Linhartová‘s essays on Czech and European modern fine art and literature as well as Japanese art, thinking and culture, selected and arranged by the author herself. The texts, which date back to the Sixties, were initially written in Czech and subsequently – after 1968 – in French. The publishing of Soustředné kruhy marks the firsttime that these Czech translations appear in print. The importance of this work transgresses the borders of Czech as well as European thinking about culture, art and the world at large.
The book is divided into several parts all of which have been newly introduced by the author. With Marie Langerová’s afterword, Linhartová’s complete bibliography, Miloslav Topinka’s editor’s note and an extensive nominal index.
