Brno and Vienna honour the late Jiří Gruša
The mayor of Brno will bestow the 2011 City of Brno Award in International Cooperation to the recently deceased Jiří Gruša-in memoriam on 24 January.
The prize will be accepted by his wife Sabina Grušová. The ceremony will take place at the Congress Hall of the New Town Hall at 6:30pm and will be open to public. Further events commemorating the personality of Jiří Gruša are expected in Vienna. On 24 January, the Austrian Literary Society will award Jiří Gruša-in memoriam with the Manes Sperber Award presented by the Minister for Education, Art and Culture Claudia Schmied, which will be followed by a programme dedicated to Gruša featuring E. Busk, among others. On Saturday 28 January, a Holy Requiem Mass will be held at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna.
