On the occassion of the publication of the novel Das Versprechen des Architekten (Czech Slib, Promise, Druhé město, Brno 2009) a short interview with Jiří Kratochvil was aired on the Austrian TV channel ORF1. Among other things, Kratochvil criticizes totalitarian regime for rejecting humour and professes his affinity towards the idea of the European Union.

The Brno author has published a new book in Austria.
The novel Slib (Promise) was translated into German by Christa Rothmeier and her daughter Julia Hansen-Löve and published - same as Brünner Erzählungen last year - by the Vienna-based publisher Braumüller Verlag thanks to Dana Blatná’s literary agency DB Agency.
Kratochvil’s new book was presented at the Viennese cultural institution Alte Schmiede on 17 May 2010. The leading Viennese newspaper Standard published an interview with the author, which can be viewed here.
