Melancholic autumn as the colourful foreboding of demise forms the backdrop of the lives of two characters, emerging from nature and living in a deserted mole’s burrow. Francis is writing a voluminous epic tale in the style of medieval novels, while Agnes attends to the household. The male and female roles in the cycle of co-existence, as well as the disharmony of poetry and sleet, captured in a language full of dense and damp references – although the heroes are eventually met with their predestined end, every pain hides the hope of a new beginning, even more so if something remains behind.
