Writing fairy tales is probably the hardest task of a writer. Moving in traditional settings, yet still being original. Those who manage to do this nowadays tend to write fairy tales for adults; the text does not have anything to do with the world of children. But a parable of a fish that was born with legs will be understood by young readers, too. Being different does not mean that this interesting creature cannot save her pond when things go from bad to worse. In order for the fish, the main protagonist, to be entered in the Silver Foam list, she needs to get the signatures of twelve members of the Green Assembly. And she succeeds in doing so thanks to her cooking skills. All goes well, the pond is saved, the protagonist becomes a cooking celebrity, finds her coveted love – and, in addition, the kids reading the book can learn how to prepare twelve meals. Magdalena Wagnerová (born in 1960) studied screenwriting and dramaturgy at FAMU in Prague. She also works as an editor and has published twenty-five books for children and adults.
