Pavel Šrut’s lyrics have been among the best in Czech sung poetry since the early 1980s. The first one to sing his translations of Robert Graves‘ poems was Luboš Pospíšil, followed by Petr Skoumal who recorded the hitherto unreleased demo versions featuring Šrut’s lyrics. In the second half of the eighties, wider public learned about his work through the performances of Helena Arnetová, Vladimír Mišík, Michal Prokop and C&K Vocal.

Over the years, other singers followed: Lenka Filipová, Marta Kubišová, Petr Novák, Olympic, Radůza, Jiří Šlupka Svěrák a Lubor Šonka. Šrut’s lyrics previously appeared in two book editions; though Už ráno začal večírek (The Party Started in the Morning) includes significantly more lyrics, as well as a complete discography.
