The essayist and prose writer is again a poet after a long time. In free verse and small prose, on the one hand, he captured the experience of the South Bohemian region with its myths, legends and fairy tales, with the broken Czech-German dialogue and, on the other hand, a certain ritual of daily observations and mundane activities (such as drinking tea), and, finally the recapitulation of his own human and artistic evolution. Kroutvor, born in 1942 and a graduate of philosophy and history of art, conceived his collection as a journal or notebook, sketchbook. As a sequence of immediate but accurate and clear records. As an intimate confession of the great transformation of a dandy who comments in a stylised manner on Central European art of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, into a quiet and humble observer of the presence and the profound past of the rural landscape whose constants are tradition and order.
