Literary fiction

Vertigo takes place in the 1990s. The author evokes this period with colloquial language, sarcasm and helplessness, total disillusionment — Dušan’s story begins somewhere in the midst of all this. He is growing up in a time of opportunities, privatisation but also bankruptcy and personal tragedies. In this post-revolution madness, seventeen year-old Dušan lives his slow life, where hormones and a lack of understanding from his parents play a significant role. While ambling around the world, drinking beer, listening to music, poaching fish and watching his female classmates he meets his first love. However, this love, as is often the case, is like a comet: it shines, dazzles, causes dizziness, vertigo. And then disappears, leaving the door open to the world of adulthood.

Praise

“The author gradually unveils Dušan’s soul, carefully, almost as if he was unveiling himself.”
