Slavonic scholar. He studied German and Slavonic studies at the University of Graz from 1987 to 1994. As part of his studies he spent time in Russia, the Czech Republic and Poland. He has published numerous studies on Russian and Czech literature and culture, as well as studies focusing on literary theory. He has been teaching at the University of Salzburg since 2013.
