Bertie is nine years old. His parents are divorced and he is living with his mother, who has found a new boyfriend. He finds the change in his life very upsetting. He feels betrayed. I want everything to be the like it was before! He is angry. Jealous. He is unpleasant to everyone around him. Until one day when he meets a strange talking animal in the woods behind his cottage and befriends him. Can this unexpected friendship with this mysterious creature change Bertie’s view of the world?
