Attention: The article originally stated that the grants were for events taking place until the 31st of May 2019, this has been corrected to the 15th May 2019.

The Czech Literary Centre, a section of the Moravian Library, provides grants for Czech authors and illustrators travelling to literary events abroad (festivals, readings, book launches, lectures, debates etc.). The applicant can be an event organiser or an author/illustrator. The next application submission deadline is 31st October 2018 for events taking place from 1st January to 15th May 2019.

Event organisers can request support for appearance fees, travel expenses, meal allowances, accommodation, promotion, interpreting and moderation costs. The subsidy can cover up to 70% of total costs for the event. If the organiser is awarded support, they can receive up to 40% of the awarded amount before the event.

Authors/illustrators can request support for appearance fees, travel expenses and meal allowances. The subsidy can cover up to 100% of the total costs. A condition of the application is that the event organiser must provide the author/illustrator with adequate accommodation. If the author/illustrator is awarded support, they can receive up to 50% of the awarded amount before the event.

Applications related to the presentation of Czech literature at the Leipzig Book Fair, i.e. from 18th to 24th March, and which are intended for events held at the book fair or as part of the Leipzig Liest festival are assessed exclusively by the Moravian Library within the Leipzig 2019 project.

Applicants cannot request payment in advance for events taking place in January. 100% of the awarded support is paid after the event.
