Magnesia Litera nominations revealed

The prestigious Czech literary award has announced its nominations for 2017.

In each category, there are three finalists, with the sole exception of the prose category featuring six finalists. Below are the nominees for prose, poetry, book for children and young adults and discovery of the year. The complete list of nominees can be found on the Magensia Litera website. The winners will be announced on 4 April at the National Theatre New Scene in Prague. The ceremony will be broadcast live by Czech Television.

Prose:
  • Marek Šinedlka: Material Fatigue (Únava materiálu)
  • Ladislav Šerý: Never Been Better (Nikdy nebylo líp)
  • Michal Přibáň: Only Twice for Everything (Všechno je jenom dvakrát)
  • Aleš Palán: Rataj Forest (Ratajský les)
  • Zuzana Brabcová: Aviaries (Voliéry)
  • Bianca Bellová: The Lake (Jezero)
Poetry:
  • Tomáš Gabriel: Everyday Heroism (Obvyklé hrdinství)
  • Vít Janota: A Weekend in Some Kind of Switzerland (Víkend v jakémsi Švýcarsku)
  • Milan Ohnisko: Light in a Wound (Světlo v ráně)
Book for children and young adults:
  • Ivona Březinová & Tomáš Kučerovský: Shout Quietly, Bro (Řvi potichu, brácho)
  • Tomáš Končinský, Barbora Klárová, Daniel Špaček & Petr Štěpán: Typo and Crust (Překlep a Škraloup)
  • Tereza Vostradovská: Playful Science (Hravouka)
Discovery of the year:
