Petr Váša was born in Brno in 1965. He studied history of art and founded several music bands Z kopce (1985), Ošklid (1987) and A-Beat (1990). Following their demise, he has pursued the physical poetry project (performances and recordings since 1991, drawings – visual poems, lectures and workshops at various art schools and on special occassions as of 1992). After years of solo performance, Váša set up the music band Ty Syčáci in 1999 which released several diverse records.
He has presented his work on numerous stages at home and abroad, published in several types of media (the books Texty, básně, poèmes physiques and Návrat Plavce Jindřicha, CD‘s Cirkus-Chaos-Minaret and Manifesto, TV and radio shows, exhibitions and online presentations). Currently, he performs alone, with his band Syčáky and the reformed group Jasná páka. He also teaches physical poetry and works on literary, music and art projects.
The book documents the development of physical poetry and serves as its manifesto and textbook – not only in words and images, since it also encompasses a DVD that captures the author’s ouevre in a series of videos, audio recordings and picture books.
